Silva (dramaturg
& stage director)
Miguel Silva was born in 1974 in Mexico City. He graduated from the Conservatory
of Amsterdam. He started his studies in music and recorder in Mexico in 1992
with Horacio Franco at Mexico National Conservatory. In 1994 he founded the
early music group Estrum Musicae, which with he toured extensively in Mexico.
Also in 1994 he started his participation in the Multidisciplinary group Kalispherion,
which combined contemporary music, dance and video. In 1995 he became founding
member of the Baroque Orchestra Cappella Cervantina. Since 1998 Miguel Silva
lives in Amsterdam, granted by the National Institute of Fine Arts, Mexico,
and The National Funds for the Arts to follow studies in music at the Conservatorium
van Amsterdam with Walter van Hauwe, and to continue his activity as a Multidisciplinary
practitioner.
DIRECTING TRAINING AND DIRECTING EXPERIENCES with musicians, dancers and actors: In the search for a thorough scenic and musical techniquehe started developing the musician’s dramaturgy (the awareness of body energy, stage presence and scenic bios applied to the musical performance) working with musicians and dancers. Since 1998 he has directed and composed the dramaturgy for several multidisciplinary pieces.

(toured in The Netherlands and England 2004).
August 2003, participated with actors of the Odin Teatret in the project Anderdag
(toured in Denmark) and Bidevind (a one day festival in Thorsmine, Denmark.
The piece Atem was presented at the Gaudeamus International Music Competition
and was awarded with the special price for the best use of electronics. Salse
was presented in the International Music Week in Amsterdam and at the Dusseldorf
Autum International Festival. In Vitro was funded by the Amsterdam Fonds voor
de Kunsten and presented in the Monaco International Dance Forum.
THEATRE
SEMINARS AND RESEARCH
Since 2001 started his training and professional collaboration with the theatre
director Eugenio Barba, considered one of the reformers of theatre in the XX
Century.
November 2001, participation in the theatre seminar, "The Theatre and its
dramaturgies" given by Eugenio Barba and the actress Julia Varley in Monterrey.
August 2002 , International seminar, The Odin Week in Holstebro, Denmark.
May 2003, Seminar "Words and Actions", give by the actor Tage Larsen,
in Denmark (2003).
October 2003 – October 2004, research collaboration, performances and
workshops in Amsterdam, Bristol and Bath with the Naked Theatre Research Centre
from Bristol.
Associate researcher on the "Integral Music Performance" for the PhD
program Docartes, under the umbrella of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, Koninklijk
Conservatorium Den Haag, Orpheus Instituut Belgium, University of Amsterdam
and University of Leiden.

(eigen tekst) regie Martijn Vorstenbosch en acteur in de kindervoorstelling
Speelgoed samen met blokflluitensemble Brisk en acteur Porgy Franssen, in de
serie stukken over Grondwet in de
Balie en Bellevue (DNA) Volgend jaar regie bij Cosmic Theater.
De afgelopen 10 jaar geef ik les (spel en stem) op de Amsterdamse Hogeschool
voor de Kunsten en HKUEn in Antwerpen op de v/h Studio Herman Teirlinck.
Ik ben stafdocent op de Amsterdamse Theaterschool, Amsterdamse Toneelschool
en Kleinkunstakademie.
